Bio

Jennifer Roberts grew up in Transfer, PA and currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and dog, Finnegan where she lives a quiet life filled with dreams of riding the rails. She holds degrees in both Women’s Studies and English with a focus in Creative Writing from Otterbein College, and an MFA in Creative Writing from California College of Arts.


During her undergraduate career, Jennifer created and edited Otterbein College’s first feminist zine, Kate, was the winner of the James Martin Humanities Award and the recipient of the Cornell Merriss Study of Women in Society Endowed Research Fund, as well as other writing awards. She has most recently studied with Natalie Goldberg, Phillip Lopate, Dominic Orlando, and Ken Prestininzi.


Jennifer's poetry, essays, plays, and scholarly writing have been published in Quiz & Quill, Aegis, and OMG!Lit. She produced a series of digital essays exploring the relationship and life lived in letters between her maternal grandmother and her biological grandfather during the late thirties and forties.

Boeto, published in 2006, won first prize in the Quiz & Quill playwriting award. Since then, Boeto has been selected by the Playwrights Center of San Francisco for their fall 2008 staged reading series.

Beekeeper, a play about haunted pasts, was chosen by Butterfield 8's New Works Series for a two weekend staged reading 7/24-7/26 and 7/31-8/2 and will have a staged reading 12-01-09 with the Playwrights Center of San Francisco
